A very good search engine, if you look for scientific, educational, technical and fiction literature; the file formats are quite common: pdf, djvu, ps, doc, txt etc.
Unfortunately, for some locations, like lib.homelinux.org you will need a password to access the site. It is not so hard to find, even if they change it from time to time... But this is the subject for another post.
